She must've made her parents sick with worry!
An 11-year-old girl named Alexis Waller wanted to see a boy in Jacksonville, Florida that she had met while on a family vacation two years ago.
The only problem was that she was all the way in Bryant, Arkansas which is almost a thousand miles away!
So the young lady scooped up ten thousand dollars from her grandmother's sock drawer, which is already strange that someone would keep that amount of money there, and walked out of the house in the middle of the night on December 5th.
She walked to a gas station, hitched a ride with a stranger to Little Rock, Arkansas, and then called and offered a cabbie an obscene amount of money to bring her to Florida!
The cab driver accepted the $1,300 that the little girl offered him, and later the cab driver said the girl had on heavy makeup and he actually thought she was 16 or 17! Which is part of the reason the cab driver is NOT in trouble after this.
Asked how she convinced the cab driver to take her, Alexis said:
"[The cab driver] didn't really ask anything, he just asked me where I needed to go…I said I need to go to Jacksonville, Florida. He's like, 'do you have money' and I'm like, 'yes.'"
Once her parents discovered that their daughter was gone they called police who discovered from Alexis's cell phone records that she had called a cab from a certain company.
From there they called the taxi's company who called the cab with Alexis inside where the driver then agreed to stop where they were and wait for the parents.
And they had already made it all the way to Atlanta, Georgia!
From there the parents drove NINE HOURS through the night to finally retrieve their daughter. And even though the father is definitely upset, he's definitely more relieved that his little girl is safe! And Alexis seemed to have come to her senses by this time. She said:
"I'm actually glad I got found. I knew I made a mistake after a while and I didn't have a phone."
The father Brent Waller initially thought his daughter was kidnapped when he couldn't find her. He said:
"You always just think the worst. [I] just thought some guy had come and scooped her up."
And even though he has taken away her makeup and cell phone, he isn't thinking of what her punishment will be besides that…yet!
He said:
"You have the rest of your life to punish her. You just want to hug her and just love her because you got her back and that's what's important."
Sounds like a pretty damn good father!
And we agree with Alexis's old man — her return home is the most important part of this story!
Because something bad definitely could've happened!
And so, we too, are just glad she's safe and sound!
